the Woman

I started free-handing at the age of five. I immediately noticed that I had a passion for art and music at a very young age. I enjoyed drawing underwater scenes which included fish, sea coral and mermaids. While in grade school, I entered many art contests and won numerous awards. It is important for everyone (esp. kids) to participate in constructive activities that will help them to develop their God-given talents. Eventually, I got into creating paintings, colored pencil sketches,  jewelry, and t-shirt art. I was an "indoor kid" who spent a majority of my time creating things.

I graduated from Louisiana Technical College in Graphic Communications & Desktop Publishing in the year 2000. The school recognized my motivation and found me a job before I graduated. This first job gave me the opportunity to design for arena football teams in Louisiana. Over the years, I started working as a Graphic Designer for various companies in the Baton Rouge area as both an employee and contractor. I particularly enjoyed working for Plain Jane, Incorporated. I worked there for seven years and gained a lot of knowledge on wholesale manufacturing and product designing. I designed ceramic dishes, clocks and other novelties for this company. We sold these products in different stores across the nation. While working, I went back to school and obtained a Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Southern University and A&M College with a minor in Business Marketing. Later, I became an instructor at a technical institution teaching classes in the department of Visual Communications. I particularly love teaching youth to develop their talents.

I started my small business Créations de Dieu in the year 2010. It focuses on customized novelty products, multi-media graphic design, web, and print services to personal clients, businesses, churches and organizations. My most popular items are her customized, hand-painted wine glasses and plates.

From 2010-2014, I worked as a Paginator & Graphic Artist for The Enterprise Newspaper in Vacherie, LA. and three of Wick Communications newspapers: The L'Observateur of LaPlace, The Daily News of Bogalusa, and The St. Tammany Scene. From 2014-2019, I worked as a creative developer for a billboard company.

Currently, I am the Creative Specialist/Graphic and Digital Designer for the Southern University Agricultural Extension & Research Center’s Office of Technology & Communication Services. In this role, I am responsible for producing all of the artwork for the SU Ag Center, College of Agricultural, Human and Environmental Sciences, and the Chancellor’s office. I started working at SU Ag Center in 2020 as the Graphic Artist/Web Content Specialist for the SNAP-ED and Cooperative Extension Programs. My responsibilities included producing graphics, publications, branding and website designs for the SNAP-ED Program and Cooperative Extension Programs.

I obtained my Master’s of Business Administration degree at Southern University and A&M College with a concentration in Entrepreneurship in the Fall of December 2021. In the future, I also plan to teach students the art of web development, graphic design, and how to start their own businesses. The Lord has placed my artwork in households across the nation, in the hands of thousands through newspapers, and in the eyes of millions driving along the highways. His promotions are greatly appreciated!

My motto is to always go with your OWN vision. "God made each and everyone of us uniquely different with special gifts and talents. Use what He has given you with confidence. Do not let His gifts go in vain. Trust me, He will not fail you."
